Hello, I've just got a Marshes & Sheperd Ponds Works with strange marking - V (crown) A - on it. That one looks strange to me, I've only met before standard V(crown)R, W(crown)R for Victoria and William Reigns. Shouldn't the second letter always be 'R' there? And then, what means my VA marking? I guess that can stands for Victoria and Albert but never seen such cypher before.Attachment 183958

That's a new one on me? Could you take a closeup picture of just the 'Mark'...it would make it easier.

May be they broke the R and/or put an upside-down V for emphasis/prank :)

I'm sorry it's taken me a few days to find this, because it's a wonderful mystery!
I've never seen or heard of a V / A mark, but I would have to assume it's for Victoria / Albert. That said, assumptions like that will land a fellow squarely in the middle of Wrongsville, so I'd recommend treating it instead as a mystery.
There's a small group of razors out there with anomalous crown marks (like the ER crown in this thread).
There's a small chance that the original scales might've provided some clarification, or maybe knowing where it came from, but overall I have to give that a great big 'dunno!'
