I know I am probably going to get some flack for this but I have recently bought a Clauss USMC WW2 razor. It has the original black scales. I think camo scales would be the ticket. Anybody know who might do that work.
Thanks.

Look in the vendors corner lots of guys doing rests work there. Tc
You could try doing a DIY camo job on the original scales.

Camo and Digicam are avaliable in G-10. Sweet!
TBH, the original, black scales are best!
If you do it yourself you could find some camo easy enough if you look outside the box. Camo clip board , camo toy gun, anything plastic in camo big, flat, and thick enough.

Has Camo, I have done a couple of them that way USMC and Army & Navy
They come out pretty good but because of the small surface area of the scales it is kinda hard to really see the Camo patterns :(
If you really want to change them (personally I wouldn't unless they were shot) something like olive drab might work better if the camo pattern is going to be too big to really see.
You could always get the camo plastic, make the scales and see how they look.
Thanks for your help. I am not sure I will replace them but there is something about the military and camo......
But if you get Camo scales...you might not be able to find the razor....
sorry....had to.
Would be cool to mimic a kabar
Canvas micarta and a seal epoxied into the scales could work nicely.
Now that would be the ticket. The black scales are near perfect, but, I just keep thinking a military twist would be good. I also liked the idea by henrys cat about the olive drab.
Why not do it in Marine Corp Colors Scarlet & Gold or get some MARPAT and make your own the MARPAT has USMC and an EGA printed in the pattern anyway this is what I was going to do to mine but have left them as they are and only use one or the other once a year just my thoughts
Here's an example of one that Max Sprecher did a few years back -- a Genco "Army & Navy" in olive-drab G10.

Camo in the medicine cabinet would be something along the lines of a Crest logo of the bottom of a mouth wash bottle :<0)
You could make your own Micarta. Just picked the first video I saw there may be better ones.

Would be cool to use some material with smaller pattern on it. Paper or cloth with the right size print on it and you would have a hit. Maybe use a GI Joe jacket for the top layer. You could even make your own pattern out of paper.
Took awhile to find it LOL
This is the last one I did in the Digi-Camo you can see what I mean about the pattern

Now there is a layered Camo G10 with OD/Black/Tan layers that you could work into something interesting too with a sanding drum and a dremel..
Plus one on the Kabar idea that'll look sweet if it can be pulled off well.
From what I have read, it is my understanding that the one with USMC was from the Spanish-American War and also they were produced during WW1. The blades on these, again from what I have read, did not hold up well from moisture. I have not seen many of these that looked very good. The second one marked USMC on the tang was from the WW2 era and had a coating on the blade that held up better. I recently bought one and after I used Flitz polish it looked great. Sent it off to have it honed and I shaves great. I would like to find the earlier version.
Also, I read somewhere these were not "regulation issue" razors. Clauss produced them but they were not sold through the USMC.
BTW, my son just graduated from Parris Island in October (3rd BN, India Co.) He is at Camp Pendleton going through RECON training. Tell your son I appreciate what he does. Being a Drill Instructor has to be tough.
I have alway been told the same info you have only the 2nd was From the First World War, I need to go back over to the Musem on Parris Island again and see if they have any more info. There is also a retired SgtMaj. that I need to talk with he knows from what I've been told but haven't been able to get in touch with him yet. I have also read on here someone contacted the Clauss Shear Works and they had no info. I was in the museum on Parris Island over Thanksgiving no one to ask but they do not have one on Display the only thing they have is a Double Edge and it's in the WWI area. Although there is a picture I have seen of a gear lay out with a Straight Razor in it from around WWII not saying it is or isn't a Clauss no way to tell there is also a picture from the same time frame with a double edge I would really like to find out for sure
If and when I get my paws on a USMC blade I will change the scales to a blue with red blood stripe brass pins and wedge
This is what I had in mind. While a different than the more modern and dress uniform ideas above. Canvas micarta conveys the sense of a pre 1990s army kit.
I remember wearing my Grandpa's WW 2 issue green canvas utility belt and Canteen holster when I was a kid.
