    Default Mühle Straight Razor

Don't you love it when you find something that is inexpensive, yet works very well?

    Take the Mühle RM 30.

Not a brush, not a DE razor, but a straight razor.

I found them a while ago on a trip to Europe and at €61.50 incl. 20% tax (for a total of about $76) it was the cheapest straight razor in the Viennese brick and mortar shaving store.

Some might have considered it shave ready, but after a few laps on a Naniwa 12,000 and Gokumyo 20,000 the razor gives an comfortable smooth shave - certainly much better than the price would suggest.

The proprietor in the store commented that Mühle is now considering setting up their own straight razors production, which would mean that the RM 30 were manufactured by someone else (too good to be Dovo).
Whoever it was, they did a good job.

The only drawback: They were only made in ⅝ and are currently hard to come by, although Mühle has hinted at straights becoming available again in spring 2015.

Looking at the Mühle website, they appear to be expanding their straight razor related collection, which could be good news as I am totally uninspired by Dovo. (Luckily we still have Aust.)

If you don't mind the ⅝ size and look for an economical, yet good straight razor, consider the RM 30 if you can get one.

Don't have a camera handy, but if you google Mühle RM 30 you find plenty of pictures.
Standard ⅝ straight razor w. gold etching and plain black scales.

    Nothing fancy, but it works...

I don't see any even close to what you purchased yours for. Looking about $100-$125 plus shipping and any applicable tax.

Maybe not such bargain outside of Europe.

There must be a few advantages left for shoppers in Europe.... 😎

As I mentioned in my post: availability may be an issue; but Smallflower (currently showing out of stock) sold them in the price range you mentioned.

While the Mühle is certainly a bargain at less than $80; for $100-$125 I would choose a professionally honed Aust ⅝ that is currently available for less than $110, incl. shipping.

Aust makes outstanding razors (in more sizes than just ⅝) and is one of my favourites.
