looking for a "new" straight

So I'm really itching for a "new" straight razor. I have the following already: Fili DT JMP 8/8, 7/8 friodur 472 1/2, Fili EPBD 6/8, W&B Celebrated FBU 9/8, Fili Sub Cero 6/8, and a few others :o
So I was thinking about a TI 7/8, SRD has one in stock with red wood scales. I also really like the dovo Bismarck in the pearlex white scales. Is there any other options I should consider or would the TI make a nice addition? I know it's all opinion, and I have nice ones already, but a new one has me itching lol.

i like the new model T.I. .. The Dreadnought 7/8 , scales look kinda big i think but i do like it a lot ..

I pulled the trigger on the 7/8 dreadnought in buckeye burl scales. I wanted to wait until it showed up to respond but I think it's a few days away and I can't hold it in. I also ordered a 28mm high mountain white knot that I'm going to put into buckeye burl as well. I can't wait! Pics asap...

Good choices above! But for the money a Ralf Aust or two would be my choice.

I just don't feel compelled towards the Ralf Aust razors. I've heard they are really great, but I just didn't feel drawn to it like I was the dreadnought. Honestly I've really wanted the dovo Bismark in pearl scales. I am still very young, and very much addicted so there's always next year for an Aust! I'm hoping it arrives this week, and I'll be sure to post some nice pics!

So I would like others opinions before i say how i feel about this... I had edited the pics to spot the reasons im unhappy, but if you look you will see multiple spots of corrosion.

Contact the seller. That needs to be replaced. New razors dont come pre rusted. Sure any reputable vendors will make it right. Good luck

Best course of action is to contact the seller and discuss the issues with them.

It is a very reputable vendor, and I have contacted him and am awaiting a response. I just feel irritated because a razor in that price range should automatically be inspected prior to shipment. It's a UK dealer, so an over seas shipment should have definitely been inspected. Now if I want a replacement it could be weeks or even a month depending on shipping times.

If it's the one I think it is, his after service is excellent.

A. I keep it and buff out the rust myself

B. Send it back for a replacement (2 weeks minimum wait time)

C. Send it back for full refund.

Brand new razors are not supposed to be worked on to actually look new, my opinion.

I completely agree with this statement.

Did the new razor come in the leather sheath / case, inside the box? If so, the leather will draw moisture over time and usually cause the blade to rust. The seller should make this right to your satisfaction. I would probably hold out for replacement, but the seller may offer a deep discount as well. If that is the case, I would probably take the discount and buff the blade myself. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The razor was wrapped in wax paper, in the leather sheath, wrapped again in wax paper, in the razor box, then fully wrapped in bubble wrap. I wasn't offered a discount, and I don't plan on asking for one. This has just been a very poor buying experience, and I think I'll stick to vintage blades from now on. I could buy several very nice vintage blades for the same amount of money as this rusty new one.

Not sure how this one got away from the vendor, I have bought a TI from them a few years back and it was in perfect condition.
My suspicion is the razor was like that from the factory and no one really looked it over before mailing it to you.

If your looking vintage cant go wrong with strazors.com either....some very nice pieces at all times....
Thats not right that your razor came like that. It did prob come from factory that way but on an overseas shipment especially the razor should have been examined prior to shipment.

They are real, Puma still exists as a brand in Solingen. They make knives and other cutlery but how good are their razors compared to the vintage stuff, I don't know.

PUMA Razor Puma Knives

Well I was going to send the razor back, but had a change of heart after we discussed a discounted price. I do not regret my decision, this razor shaves as good as it looks. It was handled very professionally and I have nothing but good things to say. I just won a gorgeous hunk of buckeye burl that will be made into a brush handle, 28mm HMW knot. Can't wait! Maybe I'll try one of those new pumas when the fit and finish of the blades and scales does not look like every RSO I've ever seen...
