I have this old razor that I bought a lot to get. I thought it was an old Elliot, it is not. It may be a Wostenholm. What I can read on the mark is

__l house lane
I have not found much with this lack of info. I know there are those here with great Google Fu and yet other with even better research skills.

thanks John. I had read that a long time ago. I think that SteelHouseLane is workable in this scenario. So likely Joseph Wostenholm post 1845. Nice. Your Google Fu is strong.

I just saw this & started reading in my Tweedales & came across Joseph Wostenholm & Steelhouse Lane after reading several pages about George Wostenholm!
Nice shank design. Spine looks too thick for the blade width but better than other way around :)

Same here. I have a couple. I always wondered if they were altered because on mine, part of the makers mark is ground away like the others I've seen. Just a thought but in all reality, I believe the maker's stamped their mark on it, then ground the double thumb notch in them.Quote:
