I pick my least favorite. I try to whittle down my herd. Say I am going to donate them or put them up on the Bay. I miss every last straight I ever sold or donated. I pull it out and say I will shave with it one last time before I send it off. Everytime I get the best shave from that one and cant give it up. My current worst is a brand new TI with a scrolled rose spine. I hate it because I havent mastered honing the hard steel to get it dialed in, and I paid way to much for it chasing the shave. And I wont admit defeat so its my least favorite Today.
Well, not exactly a buyer,Pups!........Always looking for wind-chime fodder! The center clanger in that set pictured is a Puma! :D
Red imp 133, sold my soul and still can't get a decent edge
I don't like shaving with heavy Sheffield wedges. Its not that I don't like them, per se, I have quite a few in my collection. I just prefer to shave with something a little lighter and I like the auditory feedback from a hollow.
My ideal size and shape is a 13/16 hollow round point, my Le Jaguar fits this description perfectly and its my 'special razor'. Also a big fan of the little Swedish razors I have, 4 and 5/8 Tornbloms.
I've had & honed over 3 dz Sheffields. Heavy thru full hollow. Most guys love a nicely done Sheffield, but my face just won't have any of dat stuff. I hate honing them, but hate shaving with them even more. 'Nothing wrong with them unless you get one that has worn past the case hardening (for those that were done that way. They're handsome, seem quite well made. My face just won't listen to reason.
Splashone,
I have a 9/16" Kropp that just will not take a decent edge (for me) - I named it the 'Krappy Kropp' :)
I have tried synthetic waterstones, coticules, slates etc., but the bloody thing will not play ball !
Oh well.... :)
Have fun :)
Best regards
