Dating Puma Razors
Hello, My name in Ken and I need a little help please. I acquired a cased set of PUMA razors. Is there anyone on the forum that can help me date the set? There are some numbers on the scales near the top pin. Actually above and below the pin. There are 6 numbers in total. The numbers are 602 and 362. Do these numbers meaning anything to anyone ?
I have included some photos that may be of help in your analysis. Thank you !

Can't answer you, but you made a nice score it appears!

I've never used a puma razor but from what I hear about them here at the place and from a friend they're great razors. hope some day to try one out. those look great by the way.

As far as I know the numbers mean nothing that anyone has figured out on Puma straight razors. Their knives, I think, is a different story.

Look to be very nice, might be the wrong case unless that is the name of the distributor. Does it say puma on the case?
-
I think it is the distributor. PUMA being located in Solingen Germany. This PUMA dealer in London probably put them in his own case for advertising, There was an escutcheon plate on the lid of the box but sadly, it is missing.

I would say that your puma dates from the late 50's. I have had many Puma specials and there are few variations in style and finish depending on the era.

Welcome to SRP. The #s on the blade are the model #, and/or the width of the blade. The #s on the scales are probably so that the workers can know which pattern they are for. Back then there were more of them. If you can post the info on the reverse side of the tang that might be helpful.
On my older Pumas they are marked 'Kayser Ellison Silver Steel', or Pumastahl. Later models are marked Pumasteel or Pumamaster Steel.
