Does it way Washington Works and/or England on the tang?
It's not so old as it is worn :)
Hollow grind so 1900's at a guess.
I have a 1/4 hollow ground Wosty from the mid 1800s, so not necessarily. With out knowing the factory or if it is export marked, I have no guesses. Sorry.
It says George Wostenholm & Sons Celebrated IXL Razor Sheffield England on the tang. The scales say Washington Works.
It looks a reasonably modern style of blade. I'd say 1900 to 1930.
Ck this thread about mine. Neil Miller explains how the etch was done and provides a catalog picture from 1902.

GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SON
Rockingham Works ca. 1694 - 1847
Washington Works, Sheffield ca. 1847 - at least 1991
Since it says Washington Works it is newer than 1847. Since it is export marked with England, I believe that means it is newer than 1891.
Thats the scales alright but I'm not sure if they are ivory
Sorry by they I mean the ones on my razor
they are Ivory, used to own that Blade, got it from sham long ago.
Thats nice to hear could be worth more than I thought
TBH, therein lies the description of what you actually have, Frank. The blade seems done. Nothing can substitute but a blade from Wostenholm with a Washington Works tang stamp. OR, at least a later Wostenholm blade.
THEN, there is an issue where the blades in these razors were not really wide. Say, 11/16 at tops, yet the blades were super-long. So. You either must source a blade or do what I did. Both are becoming increasingly difficult.
OR, Since the stamp is quite worn, you could try to sand off the stamp (unlikely!) and put most anything in.
Ivory is getting less popular (and I expect) somewhat less valuable in U.S. due to pending transit legislation. In NZ, I have no idea. Something to think about, I suppose! It still should be used as it exists, I think.
