Help with age of blade
I had forgotten about a having this blade until I found it tucked away in an envelope. It's stamped on the tang "WARRANTED" and "SHEFFIELD ENGLAND"
I had lightly cleaned it up. I don't remember if it had scales when I first got it or not. I doubt it because I tend to keep everything and I can't find any.
Any idea on age, manufacturer or what not?

Manufacture will be a tough one to try to figure out. As for age it is post 1890 because of the England stamp. Past that I haven't a clue. but someone else may.

JMO..about shortly after the 1890 dates. Not much after 1910.
Many makers went to the more modern smiling or straight blade by then.

Thanks for the info. One identification article I had read dated the "Warranted" marking early 1800's but the "England" part made me think post tarrif act.
I've got to clean it up a bit more then scale it and see how it does. The steel looks quite good. It does have 1 chip in the edge but I think just the process of cleaning it up will take out most of it and honing will get the rest. Now if only I could remember where I got it from. :-)
