Factory Tour of the Southington Cutlery Co. CT

So I went down today and lurked through the old Southington Cutlery Co. Factory in Southington Connecticut. It has been renovated into office space.

I have several more factories to visit here in CT. Next on the list is for my Hartford Cutlery razor, the factory is in Tariffville CT. It also has been turned into office space. I love walking the halls, it fills you with nostalgia. There will be random metal fixtures, hooks, bolts sticking out from the wall and I wonder what it was used for 100+ years ago. The more "raw" and unfinished I like the better

Thanks for sharing your visit. I am looking forward to your next stop. We have a rich heritage in so many of these places around our country.

Very nice. My ex in-laws live in Southington and I've spent many an Easter, Christmas and days there. I didn't know that place existed. I do have an old Gillette slim adjustable and a cool old travel brush from my FIL but no local straight.

Oh-Oh now you've done it. See that picture with the wood "cases" on the floor. Them be caskets and no other than Dracula and his brood have been there unmolested for 100 years. Now you've unleashed them on the world.

You mean I shouldn't have sworn by the gods old and new of the razor? Well, I may not make another trip down there...... And where did the blood on my Southington razor come from. Well, It's a good thing you said the wrong words and did not lay the razor in the center of the circle on Spendur's birthday.
Otherwise, the Drac's of Southington would be loose!

My ex mother in law has been wandering around Southington for almost 90 years now. Someone beat 57vert to it.

My grandfather, Sabatino Mele, worked on Cutlery from 1904 to 1952, then in 1908 became SoHaCo, Southington Hardware Company, abandoning the production of razors and starting to produce hardware carpenter.

I was very pleased to see the old factory inside. Thank you for your beautiful photos.

My grandfather, whom I knew well, I remain a razor that he left me and one bought on an auction sale.

Mio nonno, Sabatino Mele, ha lavorato alla Cutlery dal 1904 al 1952 , che poi nel 1908 si trasformò in SoHaCo, Southington Hardware Company, abbandonando la produzione di rasoi e iniziando la produzione di hardware da carpentiere.

Sono stato molto contento di vedere la vecchia fabbrica dall'interno. Grazie per le tue belle foto.

Di mio nonno, che ho conosciuto bene, mi rimangono un rasoio che lui mi ha lasciato ed uno comprato su un asta di vendita.
