    I smoke, so I am an expert on sensitivity. FME, some folks can smell tobacco smoke from the next county. Some claim they are highly allergic to it. It's the nose that knows!
    Scrubby-clean should do it. Unless you are confusing an oil applied or other smell. I have had some 'musty' ones!
