I have now really gotten my feet wet again and was wondering how hard it would be to collect a seven day matching set. I'm just looking for seven of the same razors. As I know there are a ton of them out there just wondering what everyone luck has been with this type of project.
7 day sets are out there. But sets in good condition are rare and expensive. It's hard to find a set where all seven match perfectly and in good original cases or boxes. Usualkyb one or more of the seven has been shortened due to damage etc. I've seen some reallyb fine sets but they are out of my budget.

Ok maybe I asked this wrong has anyone out there put together a seven day set with seven of the same type razors.
I'm sure lots of folks here at SRP have 7 day sets of the same razor that they put together themselves. I have a 7 day set of Wade & Butchers...all the same razor... that I have collected. They all happen to be mint, and it took me a long time to do it.
check out some of toms posts about his sets he has shown us they are what your asking about , oh Sharpton is the screen name , I think he just finished up 2 seven day sets with some very nice scale material he gathered up tc
I guess it all depends on how rare the razors are, of course there is the scales factor as well. One of the guys here just finished rescaling his seven day set in bone. It may seem like a little thing but seven exact matching sets of scales is not that easy. I think if you picked a really simple blade that was relatively common you could get the blades purchased one at a time over a couple of months. I have not got my set together yet i am one set of scales short but I did manage to get seven matching blades, but only have six original sets of scales. The razors are 7/8 Frederick Reynolds wedges with the original honey horn embossed in gold lettering that say Old English Razor. I have a few sets of four, all original, and one seven day set. They are out there, you may have to buy more than one set to get a complete set if you wanted the true labeled seven day set. I like pairs and fours too.

Personally, I'd love a set of Bokers, but getting the exact same spec razor with the same scales isn't as easy as you'd think. If you don't do restoration or pinning, it will be rough going. You might look for ones which are fairly common and come up for sale often. First you should decide what type you like. I had a 7-day set of Case Red Imps. It was cool for a while, but the variety was being missed after a while. Then, I hunted down Wester Bros bone scales and installed 7 modern grind wedges from different makers. Also cool for a while. The variety was still somewhat lacking. I have a 7 day set of Brooks and Crooks in ivory, but alas, have not used them. All the same. You might think about a common theme, yet with something in common like scale materials, or a single maker with 7 different styles. (Henckels is a good bet!) If something was to happen to one, it could be replaced with another close. I have done 2 sets with identical scales, yet different blades, one set all Henckels, one all American makes. It took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. They do, however, have variety! Next set I do will be same scale material and anything quality will go for the blades. I like mixing wedges, half-hollows, framebacks, and thinner grinds. If you want them all EXACTLY the same, it will be a journey, unless you just buy 7 new ones.

I was thinking a set of spikes I have two already both with the same scales. I hit eBay and found they are not that hard to find
That is the quickest way and Spikes are great razors.
I started working on 1 and got side tracked into building about 5 sets :<0) A couple here and there and they will be all collected. Then the work begins :<0)

If you pick a common razor then it shouldn't be to hard to do. Something like Torrey, Genco or perhaps Hibbard Spencer Bartlett.

I have been acquiring some Cattaraugus Green Lizards. I have never made up a seven day set but this will be a set that won't be too bad. I won't have to make the scales for them. I'm hoping the blades will all be the same. The ones I have so far are alike. I will find out soon when I get two I just won on the bay. I have a wooden cigar box that I also bought some red felt for. I will cut the felt & glue it in there & get some dividers to put in it. It will be a lot better looking than the set I saw on ebay a couple months ago that the seller was asking $1599 or best offer. They had a very nice vintage box for them but they took some wood & cut a lizard out & painted it green & ruined the vintage box by gluing it to the box. The razors were mismatched also.
I helped Jonathan (ultrasoundguy) find all seven of his Boker Damascus razor's to make himself a seven day set & they turned out very nice!
The only set I have is a Jaques Lecoultre seven day razor set but it has the interchangeable blades numbered 1-7 & is a very nice set & are hard to come by. I got it for a steal I think! It comes in the original box with the blades in the original paper "sleeves" in a paper envelope & the screwdriver for changing out the blades. I also have a four day set & a two day set. They are nice. I also have a Wilkinson Sword seven day set that comes with a razor, 7 blades & a trop all in a metal box & in a white cloth bag. Those are also nice. I had pics of my Lecoultre set somewhere on here but I can't find it now or I would add the link here. A nice seven day set is great to have, especially if you have them all identical & the blades are all good & not all worn out!
I just remembered who it was that is making the bone scales for a seven day set. It is dooey!

Incredible sets by Sharptonn, true dedication. I have been trying to get a set of Kropps up together in all sizes and that has been hard enough, can't source the 8/8 yet. So getting a complete matching 7 day set must be a endeavour. As some fellas have shown it can be done, I take my hat off.
I've found six MK32's in Ivory, still looking for # seven, need four more MK33's for that set.
Jonathon had that 7 day set of Damascus at your place. He got them one at a time.

It depends on what you want your end product to be, your two biggest enemies for this project is time and money, do you have enough of both to invest in it? depends on what razor you choose to collect as to how much and how long before you want a useable set.
i bought a pretty run down seven day set and restored it with new bone scales myself. it was hard work. mostly trying to to get the same product seven times. it took a fair bit of time and effort, most of it was done by hand.
i like my set, it was a lot of time and effort but i am proud of what the end product is, but i do know that i will unlikely attempt anything of the same scale (Bad pun) again. for me it was very much a one off.
slightly different story, it came as a seven day set (monday to friday) and i didn't have to hunt down identical razors.
