It looks like they could use some useful information about making them and what you guys like and don't like. I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few custom knifemakers start offering straights this year or next.

Yeah not to many people know anything about straight razors anymore. I have been making knives for over 20 years and knew nothing about straight razors until I found this site. Now I'm hooked.
It seems like just the thing for anyone who is in love with really sharp steel (like me). Straight razors and straight shaving is a natural progression from being simply a knife afficionado. What might surprise a lot of people, though, is that straight razors are definitely different than knives and there's a pretty steep learning curve from honing to shaving techniques required regardless of how much one knows about knives and honing other types of blades. I think the learning curve is a lot less steep than it would be for someone who didn't know much about knives, either, though. I always prided myself on keeping my knives "razor sharp", but what people think of as "razor sharp" changes a whole lot once someone gets into shaving with a straight razor, LOL. :D
