SRD has the Boker Arbolito for 219 but it's out of stock:(
My Birthday is coming up and I'm looking for something really cool (great shaver).
I was also considering a Fredick's that Glen has for sale.
What do you guys think? Trying to keep it under 200
Here are some good hard to find Bokers at good prices. I have not ordered from here but I have heard good things on multiple forums. At $200 or below...the Elite seems like it would be a steal, but I really like shoulderless razors personally.

A vintage Arbolito is one of those edges you never forget. Never tried a new one.

I've used several Bokers but not the Arbolitol I have used the silver steel 6/8 and it shaved great I've used the 5/8 Keen Kutter and 6/8 king kutter bokers and they were mighty fine razors. Really come to think of it you really want go wrong with any of the new bokers or if there are in good condition the older ones. Pick out the one you like the looks of and go for it.
I don't think I've ever heard of a bad vintage Boker. They are one of those outfits with the magic name synonymous with quality. The new ones I don't know that much about though I have a Damascus which is relatively new and it's a top shaver.
I will send you a vintage Boker for no cost and you can spend your money on another. It's not NOS or anything but it's pretty decent. Maybe then you can see what you think.
I have a brand new silver steel and it is a fine shaver.

My experience with the 6 I've had was that they all shave superbly!! Vintage Bokers are excellent shavers, no doubt.
Revisor. You'll probably end up with change too.

I got this one off eBay. The seller had it up for I think $299 but it came in an old strop box also from an old estate! It didn't sell, so he put it up for auction & I lucked out with it for around $93.

I wish I was a member here a couple weeks ago when I first started looking for a straight; I would have shared what I found. I found a non-shaving place called Optics Planet who was selling Arbolitos for less than $170, plus they had a 2 day sale for 10% off and free shipping. They are now going for $204, but they do have killer deals on a couple others. I got my Arbolito for $152.99 shipped. It had the factory edge which I worked on a bit and got good shaves with, but I'm going to send it in to wolfpack to have it honed properly.

The exact same thing happened to me when I ordered my Arbolito, apparently they're a hot item and don't stay in stock for long. I just toughed out the wait, and it was worth it, as the Arbolito is a beautiful piece.

I agree. I just found the Elite on Amazon (actually Sold by Salida Cutlery and Fulfilled by Amazon) for $175 with free shipping, but there was an additional $5.10 tax charge. Even so, I still think I got a smokin' deal, although not quite the deal I got on the Arbolito I mentioned earlier.Quote:

Yeah, I had just sold something on the bay & I just so happened to look at some Filly's & that one came up real cheap for a bin price & I looked at it over & over for about 5 minutes & determined it was new when the listing said it was used. I went ahead & pulled the trigger & when I got it, I looked at it through my loupe & it has never touched a hone! I should be arrested for stealing it...........ha,ha!!!! I saw one exactly like it go for $265, a lot more than I paid for mine & it had rust on the tang & scratch marks on the spine indicting it had been honed so I got a hell of a deal!Quote:
