Help please, some info on an old wedge razor in ivory and silver?
Hi thanks for looking, I have had this lovely shaver for about a year now, and I must admit until quite recently I have kinda handled it with 'cotton gloves' because I do not own much ivory...
The previous owner had done such a good job with cleaning it up/ restoring it,, ( I do not know the condition he found it in,, but for it's age the blade, other then some spots of heavy pitting which have been cleaned, the blade is in great condition,) and the ivory scales looked soo clean that it made me think it was plastic at first, due to my limited knowledge of ivory.
I personally would have left more signs of age on it,, but I do understand the appeal of the 'shiny' look as it got me interested enough to place a bid...
I actually felt quite bad for the seller as he must have put in some effort to restore it soo well,, and I got it for a very low price, perhaps partly because it is not a big name maker..
Anyway sorry for that long intro/ short rant...
Basically the only mark on the razor is partly gone, and I can only make out the end of the name,, "wards",,, perhaps Stewards, or Howard's?
It has no other stamp, like 'warranted' ' cast steel' 'Sheffield',, just it seems the name of the blacksmith? or maker? and that's it.
I know its not a lot to go on,, so I will be grateful for any advice offered.
Sorry the pics are not the best.. If anybody needs further pics I will do my best..
Thanks in advance guys :)
