Extra hollows are light in hand, and sometimes you have to use more than the weight of the razor to go through hair (like on your chin). Because of that you have to watch your pressure. The Shapleigh extra hollow that I have holds its edge fine, but I do have to strop it more before the shave than my other razors. The cool thing is, that it is so audible you can actually hear whether the blade is aligned or not.
The twang when it goes through hair is pretty neat too. :)
