Good razor. Usually overpriced in any (even bad) condition due to the 'brand' thing. DublDuck comes to mind.

it depends what the razor looks like condition wise and what you paid for it.
All Puma's are top notch shavers.
I have a puma 4/8 and love it. Paid $55 for it from the classifieds on this site. Well worth the buy....enjoy
I have had a few Puma razors, all were in good or very good condition and all held a beautiful edge and handled nicely. Like most straight razors it's all about condition. They are not selling for as much as they did a couple of years ago, or at least it seems that way.
I have a few, and they shave just as well as any vintage Solingen razor. Like Dubl Ducks, their ready availability has made them popular - you need a few in the market to create a bandwagon effect. Like Dubl Ducks, they were mass produced back in the day. I remember four hairdresser who used the 4/8 ones for cutting hair. Three pin vintage scales are usually a sign of higher quality razors, and the 68 models I know had them. Enjoy!
I like Pumas not because they shave any better than other Solingen razors of that period, but because they usually have excellent fit and finish and the Durofol cases are nifty.
I took a look at the higher resolution pictures of your razor on the eBay listing. The pitting on the spine would have deterred me for cosmetic reasons.
When there is pitting on the edge however that is when it can be problematic. There does appear to be a chip on the edge near the shoulder. I cannot say this chip is due to pitting however, you would have to take a close look at the bevel with a loupe and see whether the edge is compromised because of that.
Most importantly, how does it shave?
Thanks for the observations, Badgister.
I can't say how it shaves, yet. It's en route. I'll report once it arrives. Looking forward to it, though.
