I picked up this set. Its a safety SR but used an actual double grinded SR with a guard rather than early shavette that used DE blades. Set has Russian case, and Strop back hone as well as the razor

Very cool piece. When I first looked at the pictures I thought it was a Durham Duplex but that's way cooler! You had better be very careful stropping that one.
Nice find!! Rara Avis for sure! There were others with and without the guard but none come up often.

Very nice catch! I never saw a Russian one. I have this American version which was patented around 1908 & appears to be slightly used or NOS. I have also seen a rare straight razor that had a permanent blade like a conventional one which did not have interchangeable blades. Here is my American version of what you have:

The case was described in the advertisement for it as a "Russian made case". The razor itself is American made by Devine company out of Chicago.
That is different! I saw one of these Weller's the other night in an auction with a few other items. You don't see them as often as the Durham Duplex. I even have one of those in a box & it looks NOS & the blades are no longer made for them but they can be found. I have a few new boxes of blades for them. I also have a DE razor that uses the same blade. Now I need to find that DE to see who makes it.Quote:
