History of metallurgy in Geneva, New York.

Here an interesting link from the Geneva Historical Society, about when and how metallurgy came to Geneva, and part about the Geneva Cutlery Co who at one time in history was the biggest razor producer in the world.

Having grown up in upstate NY I remember the closings well. Not until I started wet shaving again did I realize how important Geneva was to the manufacture of great razors. I have 3 Genco's, A Geneva and Ontario and keep them as a reminder of how good American manufacturing was and is. To bad how many companies have left NY.

Very interesting article Martin. Kind of sad, illustrates, the way, along with industry 'the American Dream' went the way of the dinosaur.

That part of N.Y was the center of the U.S Cutlery Industry. I guess Oneida and Cutco are still around those parts.

Sure was but lets not forget Little Valley New York, 150 miles from Geneva.
