Help with ID please.
Attached are photos of a Solingen razor, but I cannot make out the makers name on the tang. It has Germany stamped on the tail and Solingen on the opposite side of the tang. Apologies for my awful photographic skills. Can anyone help please?

Having studied these photos myself, could it be a badly stamped 'Gillette'? Did Gillette ever make straights?

Typical. I've searched for ages for the maker of this and had no joy. Suddenly, SWMBO takes a look, a fresh pair of eyes and BOOM! Sorted.
It's made by Otto Willms Willott.
From looking at a number of their razors, poor stamping seems to be quite common, although the one below is very clear. Thanks to Taylors1000.com for this photo.

I could definitely be wrong, but the numbers looked stamped and the Willott looks either engraved or etched. Maybe someone enhanced the original stamping?

You could be right. On mine which isn't clear, it's definitely poorly stamped. On the readable one, it does look etched. Good spot.

Yours is a nice looking razor...like many, I like the thumb notches a lot. I do find you have to put a Vulcan nerve pinch on the shank when stropping...not a real problem considering the way the razor handles while shaving.
