    I think my Gramps had good taste in razors

    No tree on this one, although he did have a H Boker with a tree that I've been able to date at 1925 to 35.
    It had etching on the blade but I can't make it out.

    I only remember once seeing him shave. That was when the kitchen sink had a hand pump and mirror above. Strops were hanging on the wall. That was at the farm,
    I might have only been 5 or 6.

    It's not a Boker. It would be 'tree' stamped on the tang. But that isn't really important. As others have stated, it's an old Solingen blade so there's no reason it won't shave well, as seeing how it was your Grandfather's, it'll be priceless to you.
