Wade & Butcher make date
Hi all.
Sorry for not being around as of late but been very busy.
I did have time though to look and buy a Wade & Butcher razor from Ebay yesterday.
The seller i think dont know much it seems when asked what scales they were so here i am again to ask for your help and knowledge.
I know that it's pre 1890 as no England stamped on tang but wondering when roughly they started using the "B arrow cross" on their razors.
I think the scales could be either Celluiod, tortoise or horn.
It has not arrived so i do not have pics to show apart from the ones the seller had on Ebay that i will try upload now.
Any advice on how to clean the scales also would be very welcome.
Thanks again,
best regards,
Gabe.

Rough guess is mid 1800's, but I could be wrong.

Zak can chime in more here as he has done some thorough research on it, but the B/arrow logo was actually in use by another company:

That company also used the Elliot logo at one point on some of their razors. I don't know if it was really sorted out how the B/arrow logo made it to Wade & Butcher, but it never appears on their earlier razors. Based on the logo, the scale shape, blade shape, I would peg yours as roughly somewhere 1860s-90s. Just a guess though without anything hard to go on.
