Kanner's Special

Picked up this Kanner's Special on Craigslist for $5.00. It had some minor rust which I was able to remove with my Dremel tool. It appears to be in pretty good condition but will need to be honed. I have a set of Norton stones in the mail, so I figured this could be a good practice razor for honing. I've searched the forms here but there's not much information on this brand of razor. Hopefully I can put a nice edge on it and see if it's a good shaver.Attachment 220554Attachment 220555

I think you got a good deal. It looks to be in good condition. For that price, I wouldn't feel too bad if I messed it up trying to hone it. I would watch a lot of videos and read all about honing as much as you can in the Library before you attempt that though. Not like a knife at all. Or, find a mentor close by to help you. Or, send it out for a honing first so you can get a feel how it should be.

Been shaving with this razor for a couple of weeks now. Still working on my honing technique, but have to say I'm getting a comfortable shave with this razor. I really like it a lot, better than my Engels Lucky razor. Part of the reason is because the Kanner has a rounded toe...Anyway, this was a great deal on a decent razor. Would recommend Kanners...
