Speaking of barber's notches, does anyone know where bell bottoms came from?
I think I'm getting the Bell Bottom Blues.
I was told a barbers notch was a bit of a novelty gimmick as was said. Was told is there for a different grip on the razor for stabilizing while barber shavesAttachment 223346
Kind of as such sorry just rough idea as not how I shave feels weird:rofl2:
I remember from my survival swims in the Navy we were told they were shaped that way to make it easier to get them off in the water. We had to remove our dungaree bell bottom (stove pipe) pants, tie the end of the pant legs in an overhand knot (all while treading water). You raised them up over your head by the waist and slapped them down on the water. The legs filled with air and you held the waist closed with your hands. You could now float around on them like a balloon.
Bell bottom pants were introduced in the U.S. and Royal Navies during the 19th century before there were standards uniforms.
