Henckel 891/2
Hello to all am a new member. Am enjoying the surge of information available about straight razor as when started 18 years ago not a lot of information available then. I'm just getting back into straight razor shaving being as a lot of you say I have found a good hone miester to help get me going. I just found this razor off of another straight user and am having trouble identifying it as the number is on the tang if any of you have any insight about this please comment.Attachment 223343Attachment 223344Attachment 223345

Henckels made razors for probably longer than any other manufacture. They made very good razors too. So as a result there are lots of them out there and in very good condition, the good news is you have a top notch razor. The logo gives a hint to the age of the blade. I think that lone was made between 1900 and 1930. Likely closer to 1930, and that is off the top of my head so I could be wrong. 89 is simply the model and the 1/2 typically indicates a round point. I do not know who is honing in Sask. but there are a few guys in Edmonton. You could PM Thisisclog, Jon is a good guy and has helped many new comers.

Daryl Richardson is a blacksmith that has started restoring razors and sounds like brushes but is doing honing as bought my boker off of him. Was just weird that the model on the tang as always seen by maker marks

Anyone have any ideas how could straighten scales on this razor as don't want to lose originals

You should be able to find something on one of these threads Straight Razor Place - Welcome
Bob
OK. I see that did not work. Just put in "straighten scales" in the search box top right of the page. You should find a few threads that way.

Depending on how crooked they are you may choose to leave them until later. If they do not interfere with the opening and closing of the blade they should be ok. If they do contact Jon.
