Any pictures you could post from the add?
Test to see if the razor is actually magnetic. There's a few companies that made magnetic razors as a gimic to sell there products. I'll have to look around to find out some of those manufacturers. And again pictures would help
This is it,no other markings,it does appear that there is a mark of some kind right behind the word Germany in one of the pics,Attachment 223983Attachment 223984Attachment 223985
If you blow the first pic up just behind the word Germany just under the edge of the scale it looks like maybe a mark.
Attachment 223991 not sure if there is a mark there or just fuzz or distortion .
Ok got it in the mail today, what a wreck, the blade looks great. It is magnetic for what that's worth. The tang pin was way to tight and when you rotated the blade the scales would shift out of line .I suspected a bent pin and was right, the pin hole way to big,it's not 1/8 and its not 1/16 ? I was going to flip it but without a makers Mark I think I will use a old gunsmith trick on the pin hole and put some decent scales on it and just use it.Attachment 224635Attachment 224636Attachment 224637
That blade does look like it's in great condition! I have a few magnetic blades, they are interesting but can be irritating to work on. I had one snap to another blade on my work bench the other day...
Ya strange,I've been reading some steampunk adventures and this would fit right in lol,I think this may be a Pakistani blade do to the way it's stamped and the fact that none of the edges on the spine are smooth as you would find with A a good maker and B age. Also the sloppy tang hole and bent pin.The scales have a cheap feel to them but I was also surprised that they had a actual wedge.I have a Dovo with the plastic scales and they don't have a wedge ,more of a molded bump on the inside.Thankfully I only have about 20 bucks tied up in it.
I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the pivot hole. I don't see any reason to suspect it's not German either. Id repin it, hone it up and see how it shaves.
Blade, scales and coffin all look very tidy. You may have a gem there, I doubt it is from Pakistan.
Well cleaned the blade up and buffed it ,filled the washed out pivot pin hole and will drill it out tomorrow and pin it,made some new scales out of red acrylic and used a white wedge. After that I will set a bevel and hone it and see how it performs.Attachment 224756Attachment 224757Attachment 224758
