    Nice find!

I've got to ask though, what is the "S" shaped hook thing for? Cleaning your nails?
    Snurdler?

    It's a button hook.

I suppose it could be used to pull zippers?

On a more serious note... we need to find you a travel brush to fit that spare loop. Time to measure it for a suitable diameter. Perhaps a Simpson Major might fit? I'm thinking one of the turn around type travel brushes would be best, as they protect the bristles when packed away.

If this all proves to be too much for you, you can always send the kit to me.......

    Regards

Good idea. I'll have to try some of my travel brushes. Thanks for the offer[emoji1]

I would think that it's probably 19th century or very early 20th century based upon the necessity of a button hook.

Another feature that helps to date this piece as late 19th or very early 20th century is the depiction of the the carriage and of the ladies parasol. The parasol was a lady's fashion statement during both the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Parasols were completely out of fashion by 1920 when women decided that tanned skin was preferred over very pale skin. So my guess is that this box is somewhere in the 1880-1920 period.

Real Ivory has somewhat of a grainy look to it & not consistent like the celluloid scales & such. I was looking at one of the pieces & it is possible it might be Ivory. Would have to look a lot closer. It isn't celluloid though. Very nice score, I love it!

Thank you. Since the W&B razor is pre-1891, I think you are close.

I'll get a closer look under magnification. Thanks.
