Show some pics of the straight razor. You'll get more input about it.
Welcome to SRP, btw.
Thank you.
Here is a link to the listing from ebay.

Once you get it send it out for honing. Most of the vintage razors worked quite well. None of them were made as novelty items, which is one of the modern problems.
Thanks, but does anybody have experience with this brand of razor?
Welcome aboard,,,,,,,,
Someone in the forum may very well have one of this brand, but getting a precise answer to this question might take a few hours at least. It's 12:15am here & our members across the pond will be getting up soon.
The razor looks nice but needs cleaning & better photos taken. While you are waiting to receive it,,, use the "Advanced" search button, top right(Not the Google search box) this will lead you to threads in this forum, if this razor was discussed.
Thanks love this site. I did that just too much stuff to sift through but your suggestion gave me an idea. Thanks.
Looks like a late 1800's/early 1900's Sheffield blade. I believe that's a less common maker but generally Sheffield blades are good quality. However, this razor would have been hand ground, so it may be good or not so good. In general, most of us agree that Wade & Butcher made quality blades, but I've had some poorly ground W&B's. So it doesn't really matter if someone thought a different one by this maker was good or not. That blade will be as good as the guy that ground it. And that guy probably ground blades for several Sheffield manufacturers throughout his career. When buying old Sheffield blades there are no guarantees, but most of them will shave nicely if you can put a good edge on them.
Thanks for the info.
