Looking for a good deal on a Dovo Bismark - the one with the red handle and mother-of-pearl inlay. Any tips on where to shop? I've already checked out Classic Shaving, but I'm not familiar with any of the other shops that might carry it.

Here they are... As you can see it's in a good shape but some of the gold-wash has been worn off. Not much since I bought it from Tony and it's most prominent along the spine. What you're seeing on the tang stamp on the face side is actually a weird shadow.

Some things I've noticed about these quickly-taken images...
1) The bone looks brighter and better
2) The wear on the gold-wash isn't as evident. You can see the specks along the spine but they are a bit more prominent. That and the fact that I got it for $75 and had it for a year are the reasons I'm selling it so cheap.
That isn't my old razor is it Ilija? I had one of those as my first razor and it was great, I sold it to someone on SRP but I forget who now... :hmmm:
I'm quite tempted to get another one actually, or preferably the actual one I had before if I can track it down!

Iwan, if the member you sold it to was Tony Miller, then it is. However, I'm fairly certain I got it before you joined the community. I'll double-check the BST threads when I get back from work.

That is the one I sold you and I owned from new. I think I only honed it before selling it to you and may have never shaved with it. I did also sell a few of these to the UK as I got 4 or 6 from my supplier for resale maybe a year and a half back.

Thanks for the info Tony. She looks good and is a decent shaver but with new ones coming in, it's time to prioritize and since this wasn't a restoration job and I already have Solingen spikes that are, I don't have either emotional or collector's reasons to hang onto it.
Hmm, I was really leaning more towards a round point rather than a spike. I'll need to think about this.

No problem. I am in no rush to get rid of it but this would have been perfect for a person looking specifically for a Bismarck.
Don't shy away from the spike, Orest. This looks like a very nice razor to me and I prefer shaving with square points. I love the precision it affords me.Quote:

I don't mind spikes - after all, it's what I learned on. My first 2 razors were spikes. My real preference is for a french point, but since I only have one razor that's a true round point, I wanted another. I see the bismark is sold though, so I'll continue shopping for the red handle variety.Quote:

I went ahead and pulled the pin on a new red Dovo Bismarck from Classic, which arrived Saturday. Beauty! Great shaver. 4 laps on the Moor's white, and a stropping right out of the box, and it shaved like a champ. A couple minor fit'n'finish flaws, but functionally perfect, and I like the shorter blade length.
