Hello All, I guess you can say I got bitten by the bug and already looking for a second razor after a month of SR. I dont even have the technique down but I want another one haha. I have a 6/8 full hollow, should I get something different? or would it be redundant per se if I buy another 6/8 with same grind but I really like the razor with the particular scales? Thanks in advance, curious to hear your opinions :)

What razor do you have, Where did you get it.
How have your test shaves been, Is the razor sharp enough.
What other equipment did you buy, Strops, Brushes, Hones.
Also where are you, what is the budget, and do you want new or old.
There are so many questions, The classifieds on here are often a great place to look for a second razor. Failing that if you want new provide a location so we can point you at stores and manufacturers that are reasonably local.
Redundant?? No not really. Then again you are buying a tool to do the exact same thing your first tool is doing, removing hair quickly, cleanly and comfortably. So why even buy another??Quote:

Point being here, sure you should buy another razor but the purchase should be based on aesthetics and maybe a different grind just to see what all the talk is about. No harm in getting another 6/8 with the same grind but perhaps from a different manufacturer or with different scales and/or point.
That's what makes it kind of fun....after a while you wind up with something like this.

Almost all of us have multiple razors, but a lot of us have RAD (razor acquisition disorder) too! Even for just a casual shaver, two razors are a good idea so you have a backup. If you like the razor you have that is great, but why not try something different? You might find a new favorite:)

Yes get something different. Its much to early to know what you will like next month. Maybe try a razor with a barbers notch. Its is more forgiving then a spike point and more interesting then a round nose. Just stick to a quality brand. Have fun thats what is all about.:gl:

I would go get something vintage, I just picked a nice Wm. Elliot&Sons on the "Bay". They are all over the place, vintage razors that is.
Both mine are vintage. I have a 7/8 Bengall and 3/8 Heljestrand. That's all I have. I wanted two very different kinds and I got it. When they are sharp it doesn't matter which I use. The Bengal seemed to last longer but they both need professional sharpening right now. ( I have pm'd a member about that). I have been out of it for a "minute". Going to get started as soon as they come back!
