All of the above, add the Lifetime (reaper). Pearlduck is the nickname of the later distributor, Perlson. The first distributor was Bresnick ....... they were stamped Bresduck. Any duck from either period was a good razor.

There is a serious Paddling of Ducks in that thread
I haven't found a bad duck...
I have had a handful of ducks. My favorite one is the number one. It shaves the same as the rest of the ducks, but does not have the fancy scales and sell for 1/4 the price. Perhaps I'm just cheap.
I've got an American market Satinedge. I just couldn't get a good shave with it. I love the look of it. Maybe it needed better honing. Now it just sits in a drawer...never to be used again.
DD had been around a very long time and they sold many different models from a variety of manufacturers but they are all great shavers no matter the era they are from.
The ones from the perlson era are pretty much the same save the name and scales. The exceptions are the satinwedge which was made specifically at the request of barbers and the Wonderedge which is supposed to be made with some cryo steel process.
I bought a Goldedge in 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio it's ok.Attachment 235116Attachment 235117
Just picked this Duck up on Ebay and the description said it is used but it doesn't appear to have been. The case and razor have no hone marks and it is just beautiful. I gave it a touch up on my Escher, Chromium oxide board and English Leather paddle strop and it shaves smooth with no irritation. Just a pleasure to look at and shave with. Things are just Ducky when you have one in your hand.Attachment 235669
This is the only one I have but don't know much about it.
Bresduck was from the era when Charles Bresnick owned the company and decided to use the DD logo. It's probably from around WWll.
The special #1 was made for professional use but was very popular and sold to the general public and was probably sold by the millions. It a good solid quality razor.
Could someone please give me info on this early Dubl Duck straight razor? Marked: Made in Germany 2 ducks Bresnick New York. Other side marked: Side profile of a China man Gold Mandarin Solingen. What is your guess on the handle?Attachment 235823
could you show pics of the other side of the tang and one of the whole razor? kinda hard to tell from that one snapshot
That's from the earliest days when Charles Bresnick operated his barbering supply business in lower Manhattan NYC. Many with that half circle were the lifetime series though I don't know if that one is a lifetime. Back then he sold razors made in Germany and in the U.S and if I recall correctly the ones made in Germany were about a buck more in price. It's probably pre WWll.

The Gold Mandarin was one of their rarer models. I have one myself. Be very careful with those scales, they are celluloid and have a tendency to deteriorate and give off gas which will rust the razor. I had to remove mine.
Could you guess the date of this razor. I know I cannot ask for an appraisal, who can I take it to for that? I am trying to sell it. Thanks again for your help!
it's pre WWll
I have searched high and low for a match to mine and have not been successful. Being a female, I have no real use for this and I bet that someone else would treat it better than just in a box in a drawer. I'll continue to hunt around for one similar to get a base amount of where to start. It is dang sharp, my finger could attest to that. Thank you Chevhead,TwistedOak and thebigspendur! Is a Gold Mandarin different than a Special #1 and Goldedge? Is it safe to date it 1930s?
yup goldedge, special #1, wonderedge, etc. are all just model names of dubl ducks. I've actually never seen a gold mandarin model, but there is a first time for everything.
