Hello,
I recently got a nice Dubl Duck Goldedge--not very expensive--and I just noticed a tiny nick at the point. Is this something that is not very important or should the edge be honed away to compensate for that nick?

Try putting a white sheet of paper underneath the razor. I'm having a hard time telling where the nick or the edge is in the photo!
I don't see the nick, but if its at the point, as you say, you can always round the point slightly on the hone with no ill effect to the performance of the razor.
Yeah - I agree. Can't really see much in your photo, but I've honed out small nicks before. Time consuming but I've never found it a major issue.

Right at the very tip? I can't see that being a big issue - you can round that down a bit on the hone, I reckon.

I believe this is a spike point razor(?) but I suppose rounding it out a bit wouldn't be such sacrilege.
I agree. That should be able to be honed out in no time, and should not effect its shaving quality.
Yeah, that's not a big deal. I've got a Goldedge myself, and it had a nick in the centre of the blade when I got it. I honed it out, but you can still see a microscopic little nick. I still shave with it, and you can't notice it whatsoever.
Like others have said, not a big problem. The previous owner of one of my straight razors rounded off the very tip of a spike point that I have. It still looks like a spike and functions just as well with its precision, but for me it's a little bit harder to dig into my skin with the rounded point.
$17 well spent!
I don't think that's a nick at all. I think someone did that intentionally to try and round off the spike. I would leave it alone unless you want to round it off some more.
