To steal a thread from the soaps and creams forums. What is your tier one straights and why.
Mine change from time to time. Vintage Sheffields are what I love particularly wedge grinds and very early 1800's. Right now I am into Joseph Rodgers and Frederick Reynolds. Hard to choose one manufacturer If I could only have one I would go with a Marsh and Shepherd tapered blade in Ivory.

There are all kinds of razors that perform at a top level.
I am far from experienced with multiple brands grinds and sizes, but from my sample pool I like:
any Japanese straight
any Filarmonica from the JPM era, also Palmera
any Sheffiled
any vintage Solingen, Ralf Aust from the current production brands
Vintage American
Vintage French
Vintage Swedish

Agreed. Some might add select American marques like Case family derivatives, Waterville, Connecticut and others of the area. New York Knife Company, Burkinshaw, and Michael Price San Francisco but then we are talking complete esoteric.Quote:
