Wade & Butcher razor models: Which are your most iconic?

Hi Gents,

Well, as the title of the thread asks: which 3 Wade & Butcher razor models do you consider to be the most 'iconic' - that is the most quintessential and desirable straight razor models by Wade & Butcher?

There is some overlap in razor titling out there (specifically the 'For Barbers Use' range) so please be specific with regards to size, stabilizers, point and tang styles etc.

Thanks for any input on this. No secret as we're trying to gauge which razor models you'd ideally love to see 're-issued' - at some point... :)

i dont know any better way than to tell you look at Andrews(Phrank) SOTD with his WB,s. Especially the one with the inlay in scales, or the blond horn scales. Maybe the best looking razors ve ever seen, and I have 11 customs, designed to my specs, those two are the top of the mountain.

Make something like that and I'll be on your waiting list. Tc

The big FBU Chopper
The big Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor
and perhaps
The Bow Razor or The American Razor

All of which require Horn Scales

The big W&B razors seem to attract the most attention. I have a few, they are all good shavers, but sort of typical for their time. I do not think as far as function goes that they are any further ahead of Joseph Elliot, or Joseph Rogers, or Frederick Reynolds, and we can go on a little further but I think that everyone gets the picture. They sell for more money although they are far more common, which seems backwards to me.

Man gotta be the ottoman Egyptian and royal windsor right? This goes back to the grail razor thread. I feel like everyone pines after one of those, which might just have been knock-offs in the end.

I think the one I would define as 'iconic' is the FBU (for barbers use). The one most frequently seen of the FBU, with the notch point, large domed washers, and the horn scales. Not that it is better than similar W&Bs, but it seems to be the one that draws the most on the bay. Sightings of the Ottoman are so scarce that it is precluded from iconic by the scarcity of it. For me personally a stub tail made by Robert Wade would be my 'iconic' W&B.

Just a beautiful brand of razor's, I admit I am a total "fanboy" of these...have lots more, but there's only so much bandwidth...:p

Other than the FBU, the only other 2 I can think of are the regular Celebrated hollow ground that is usually seen in the 7/8 to 8/8 area, and the Diamond edge razor.

Not sure how good this photo is, but this is mine and most iconic to me. A nice big wedge, with a notch in the toe. I do believe the etch did say "Diamond Edge" at one point.

Wow that WB looks almost brand new is it NOS? I am assuming the obviously authentic carbon fibre scales are a later addition.
Would you be willing to part with such a speldid specimen?

The Celebrated 8/8" hollow and the FBU versions (is there any real difference? ) is the one I like the most.
For me what really sets that one apart is the grind and the blade balance.

Sorry , it has been in the family for generations. It is said that my great ,great uncle obtained it from the footman of a Uyghur warlord, or from ebay,not sure which.
