Double Arrow Question.

I Always like a challenge. So I plunked down a small amount on a Double Arrow 66 the other day on the Bay.
Now from reading I realize it may be the less desirable type. As it has the actual arrows and 66 stamped on the tang.
From looking at the old posts here and elsewhere. The unstamped ones adorned with white scales seem to have a better rep.
Not going to be too upset if it is one of the duds. But hoping I get lucky and get one I can work with. I'll post up later this week when I get a chance to play with it.

Those are all things I am expecting Glen. That is the "Challenge" I was referring to. :)
The other reason I went with it was that it is larger and thinner ground than the infamous ZY ones now available. So if I am able to put a good edge on it. Then it will most likely be a razor I will enjoy using.

I've got one of those except it does not say China on it, only the two arrows and the 66. What's up with that? It seems to be very well made.

I've got one of the unmarked white scale DA's (bought 7 years ago), mine honed up fine. If you get a good one it's a fine utilitarian razor other wise you have a letter opener unless you put some work into it. I think the quality might have improved somewhat over the years

Received the Double Arrow 3 days ago.
First impression plain scales. Blade fairly centered, but loose. Finish and appearance serviceable/utilitarian.
Quality of grind, good. It is uniform, extra hollow. The blade lays 95% flat on the hone. The heel/stabilizer area being the culprit.
When plucked the steel gives a good ring. So at first glance I was happy with it.
A few light strikes on the pin fixed the loose scales. Then onto the hones. After 30 minutes, starting at 4K was able to get a good edge on it. Again happy with results.
The shaves two so far have been acceptable. The first was a little harsh. May have spent too much time on my G20K. The second after a long stropping was better.
Will see how long the edge lasts. But think I got a "good" one. And it is what I hoped it would be.

Next up in my RAD is the Rolls No.2 That just arrived yesterday.
