Default Questons on an (apparently?) old version of the 'Green Lizard' Straight...

    hi,

I am trying to find any and all information on a strange little razor that I bought through ebay recently. I have a couple of the regular 'green lizard' razors: One with the Lizard with the words 'green lizard' in the belly on the green scales, and one with blank green scales and the lizard logo on the blade, and had 131 stamped on the tang.

However, this one is quite different then any that I've seen online before. First, the lizard is a different looking design, basically the lizard on the barber hone green lizard, and nowhere does it actually say 'green lizard'. I am assuming though that it is just an older example of the same line and maybe more rare? Maybe not. anyways...
Also, the wedges are white instead of black. Maybe somewhere it was repaired and aftermarket wedges were used for whatever reason or maybe they came that way back in the day. There are also small black washers of some type which make me wonder if this razor is not some sort of frankenstein's razor that was put together with pieces from many different sources.
I really hope someone has some information on this razor and could enlighten me on what exactly I bought. Is it of high quality or just a show piece that isn't going to be able to be sharpened and used.

Oh and the label on the tang reads : 'Cattarugus Cutlery C.;Little Valley.N.Y.' and on the other side 'B44 GL'

Well, the outfit making that razor is the genuine outfit who made the green Lizard razors. it's possible the design of the creature changed over time. I have one myself and the little guy does look different.

Don't know anything about the razor but if you go by the number on the shank I would guess the last letters GL stand for green lizard. Just a guess. Hope you get the info you want.

Possibly a set of Salamander scales on a Green Lizard razor, I would have to really look to prove it though

Well, the lizard looks exactly like the image from the Cattarugus Lizard Hone, which is different than the usual Razor image...

I don't know, if you take a close up of the pins I might be able to tell if they have been popped, other than that you are going to have to do the research

Yours is the GEICO version. If you'd waited 15 minutes, you could've saved hundreds of dollars...
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

    Default Original Lizard

Those scales are original. I have a B54GL and I think yours was just an earlier model. Here are a few different types. The middle one is like yours....almost.

I posted a pic. The Lizard in the middle is like yours. Recognize the faint outline on the scales.
