I need some advice...I am looking to buy a new SR...preferably as full hollow ground, 5/8. I have a new Dovo 6/8 and a number of restored vintage razors. I have come to realize the Dovo is a heavy (in weight) razor...and many of my vintage razors are much lighter. I like the lighter weight razors, so I am seeking to buy a new, light weight razor.
Any suggestions?
I have an ERN stamped 32 that is a very thin grind. I have a couple W.H. Morleys that are on the lighter end as well. I would post your inquiry on the classifieds in the want to buy section, I'm sure someone will check it out and hook you up.

Well there are some aesthetics to some the different brands. Personally I don't like a bunch of writing or gold wash on my razors. Revisor tends to fit the bill for me on that one, and so does Ralf Aust.
I have a Wacker Jungermeister which is beautiful and on the lighter side of most newer razoers. The Tang is thin as is the grind. Very nice shaving razor. It is however a 6/8 but you will find it lighter than most 5/8 Dovos, TIs or Ralhp Austs.

I am like you. I like a clean blade...no etching, gold etc. etc. I've been looking at a Ralf Aust...but I read in another post that his razor is a little on the heavier side...too bad they don't post weight as part of the description. Hence my OP.Quote:

The tang size and spine size jumps up so they have more over all mass, which is one reason why I have always recommended them over a 5/8 for beginners..
The 6/8 is in a size almost exclusively
your 4/8, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16 are in basically one size
Your 13/16, 7/8, 8/8 again are in a size together
The 6/8 is basically alone :)
This is a generalization, there are of course exceptions to this, there are few solid rock rules in SR's

All things being equal the 6/8 will be heavier and larger in the hand,,, again it gets a bit dicey trying to make "rules" in this hobby as I can almost always find an exception to it :pQuote:
