BeJay, Did you buy this razor? It does look to be in nice condition.
Too bad we can't see the stamps on the other side, but I have one of those it is an F.W. Engles, ' Perfect Temper' which is stamped on the tang as well.

I was guessing because sometimes pictures posted, despite the magnificence, can fool one into seeing one thing while being another. I have worked a number of years with wood and you can get the stuff to a mighty high shine. I have two canes I made and the sparkle, making sunlight dance off the sticks. Both are ash.
That razor is celluloid.
You have to forgive me. At my age now, my eyes do not perform as well as they did 15...20 years ago.
No forgiveness needed, they do look like wood. I have 2 of them though, a 9/16, and a 6/8. It's the only reason you could know for sure.
