Default Another fine American bladesmith getting into straights

Just placed my pre-order. Long-time Buck knife fan. Let's hope that they don't disappoint.

I do not like the way they look, however that is only a small part of a good straight razor. I wonder if anyone here will post the shave results.

I'm fairly certain they went for looks on the jimping and not comfort. It's a pass for me unfortunately, as much as I'd like to support Buck.

Yeah I talked with their Marketing guys at the 2015 Seattle Meet, they seemed to know it all, so I walked away after about 5 minutes..

I asked the questions the most of us would asked as seasoned SR users

    What steel
    What RHC
    What angle
    What honing
    What scales
    What grind
    What point

I got the deer in the headlights look and smiled and went and got a beer

Honestly it looks like they got a little closer then I expected to a real SR

I'd go along with that. I'd bet the tang is parallel sided to match a spacer instead of a wedge in the scales. The little things that make up a traditional straight razor and how they operate seem to be missing on these types of razors.

Look forward to your report once shipped.
I too like my buck knife and hope it lives up to the name.
I like the jimps, and shoulder less grind, but that point style wouldn't work for me.
Beard and 'stache detailing with that wouldn't be ideal.
But I hope it fits your face.

The point kills the deal for me. I would be hesitant to risk that amount of money on a knife maker's razor experiment.

Apologies in advance, but I really got a chuckle out of Mr. Cooper's title: Special Projects Project Manager. It just doesn't sound very impressive. Thesaurus anyone?

Yep, my favorite is a French point but round points work OK for me. I'm hoping that the angle that the pics were taken is making it look more cut back than it really is.

Hey, I've spent more for less LOL.

I have Puma knives and razors, Case knives and razors. Henckels knives and razors. Why not Buck?!

I don't like the way it looks too but curious how it performs.
