    Default Fusion carts. How many shaves?

    Hello Gents;

    I have a fusion. *I admit it. *Don't use it much anymore. *It served its purpose, which was building confidence while learning to wetshave the back of my head.

    It will travel with me soon, i hope!

    I keep reading about the incredible amount of shaves people do with one cart. *I even seen a strop device that claims it can extend its life to 100 shaves!

    My experience is this: *the first two shaves are amazing. *during the third, you start noticing that performance is going down. *after the fourth, it is in the garbage bin. *

    I know, i use it to shave my head. *there is a lot of real estate there, with a lot of hair. *i haven't lost a single one! my hair might be tough. *not the toughest, just middle of the road.

    how many shaves do you get out of it?

    It is important to state what kind of shave you do. *My little brother uses one for six months. *He keeps it in baby oil. *He has a beard. *So, he only shaves the top of his cheeks and the bottom of his neck, once a week or so...

    Thanks for your time!

    Sorry no help. I've been using a straight since I was 17, I'm 48 or 49, something like that, I don't care, and don't keep track of it anymore. All I know is I don't get carded when I buy booze, and won't get drafted. [emoji38]

    So very brave of you to come out like this...on SRP of all places.

    I use a beard trimmer for my head which is good enough for me regarding closeness. Also, I draw enough blood on the face as it is without slicing into random scalp imperfections.

    I could get 1,000,000 shaves off one, but then again I haven't ever used a cartridge razor in all of my 63 years Tc

    I dont think it brave. Its just the truth. I didnt got a straight when i was 17. In fact, my father has not taught me anything about shaving. Anything at all. I used to hate shaving. I shaved, for almost 30 years, with the same bad cart for four or five months, without soap, sometimes without water. I never shaved against the grain until i was 47 years old. I envy you guys big time.

    I think you'll find most around here were in the same boat as you. Most used an electric or a cartridge and then one day they saw the light or something like that.

    I know someone who uses the same cart for months too. I don't know how he does it but he does use shave soap with it.

    Anyway, when I travel by air I use a twin blade cart just to avoid the hassles at security. I generally get 4 or 5 uncomfortable shaves out of the cart before I bin it.

    I was shaving with a cartridge systems during 30 years. Now I prefer SR and DE shaving routine if I have time for that, but if I need just to shave and go, I take the Fusion (Proglide Power Flexball) as before. If I use my brush and some good soap, two passes give me BBS till next day with no irritation for about 5 to 6 weeks of daily shaving, and after that a cartridge is still good enough for head shaving. Proper hair and skin preparation IMO plays a key role, with a gel or lather from balloon I can shave with same cartridge for about 3 weeks only.
