Check out this guy. Never seen this one before. Anyone have experience with this razor? Wondering what the "paper stone" is all about and couldn't find any reviews?

I have never seen the La Forma, just photos. It is certainly an interesting set of scales. Some people indicate that the unusual shape of the scales makes it difficult holding the razor while honing or stropping. Since I do not have one, I cannot confirm that issue, but I can see how it might occur.
I have never heard the "paper stone" description.
Thats a lot of curve in those scales. I could see it causing a bit of an issue stropping and honing. Still, A nice looking, different, razor.
Yeah...I love that shoulder less sweeping blade design. Wondering how flimsy a full hollow shoulder less blade is? I haven't seen that design much on full hollow straights and I assume because there is too much flex. Flex=stitches IMO.
I agree with you both about the scales, "Paper stone" sounds an aweful lot like "paper weight". Hoping to have someone chime in about this guy and how much those scales weigh. I have a straight that had its scales redone in thick wood and it is border line unwieldy. This thing might be a no go if the scales are HEAVY.
I am confused now. one site lists this blade as half hollow (which makes sense being shoulder less) and another site discribes it as full hollow.
Got it...no issues with the grind. Question still stands, what the heck is paper stone?
The design is very Jugendstil.
They were stoned when they put those scales on paper.
That's what it means! :D
I picked up a used one a few months ago, but haven't had a chance to hone it up yet, so no real impressions on usage. Mine definitely has wood scales. However, from my research, it appears that there are alternate versions with one being the "paper stone", which I found is similar to micarta, but using paper and resin to create the non-porous composite, instead of canvas and resin.
It looks like a knife makers attempt to fashion a straight razor.
I recently bought a Dovo 6/8 La Forme Paperstone razor. It's name refers to the different woods used in the scales. Mine looks like rosewood or mahogany very classy. As to the blade, it's a 6/8 carbon steel, full hollow grind. It is almost identical in dimensions to the Dovo Bismarck. I got the Paperstone because of its likeness to the Bismarck, it's one of my staple razors, and the sale at the time was on the Paperstone, some $80 less than a Bismarck so I bought it for the price and blade, nothing to do really with the scales. The scales don't interfere in the honing/stropping or shaving abilities of the razor. Looks good, holds an edge and basically if you like Dovo 6/8 razors with thumb notches such as the Bismarck's then you'll like this razor.
