Hi everyone!
I have only one shoulder-less razor, the Dovo Renaissance, and it is OK, although I don't particularly like the scales. I really like it on the strop though.
So I might be looking for a new razor that is nice and smooth at the shoulder.
Any favorites? Some of the "Revisor" razors look nice, but that is also true of the Dovo Bismarck.
I like shoulder-less razors also and have a shoulder-less Revisor with thumb notch. It shaves very well but the bottom part of the thumb notch is rounded not flat. I really don't care for that when stropping. I would much prefer that part to have been flat with jimps as a bonus but not a necessity.

Without a doubt my two Western-style Kamisori - the upper is a 6/8 Daishi 350 made of tamahagane steel, and the bottom is a 13/16 Hoshi Tombo 6000.

My favorite is a Thiers-Issard. Nice shaver. Easy to hone. Easy to strop.

I'm a real lover of the shoulder less blades. I have two Dovo Bismarck's 6/8 a Dovo paper stone 6/8, a Dovo Grenadille Carre 6/8 and 3 Thiers Issard 7/8, Spartacus, Bijou De France, Ram's horn. I've never liked shoulders, find them annoying when honing. So in the past few years I've stuck to getting shoulderless blades. My only exception in recent times was the 7/8 from Brandonisio and Bro. I bought two 7/8 models, as they have been the sharpest razors I've cone across new.
That Dovo Carre is also a stainless steel razor. Can be hard to get it to pop sharp, but once it's there, the strop keeps it sweet for ages, one of my sharpest blades, can nick you if you aren't careful, very acute edge.
I love my shoulder less blades, this Solingen Graham 7/8 is one of them

I like minimalist shoulders on razors, but I do not like thumb notches. I have a Dovo Bismark and Jerry Stark custom with notches; I find them harder to flip when honing and stropping.
I have a couple of razors with standard tangs, but only a slight shoulder where the tang and spine meet. I really like those razors.
Any shoulder less razor, I am particularly a fan of Japanese made ones.
My Carre is carbon steel - no problem to hone, and indeed very sharp.Quote:

There have been a couple of incarnations of the Dovo 6/8 with Grenadille scales, the first was a Carre with a stainless blade, the second was the 'masters' in carbon steel, and the other is the 'Flowing'. There may have been more varieties, but I've only owned a stainless model.
Indeed, but they are changing all of them slightly from year to year: my Carre for example is a carbon steel one. Master's they've changed from stainless shoulderless into double-shouldered carbon etc.
