Looking for razor sharpening in South Carolina, USA

I'm in Myrtle Beach and am looking for some one who has a sharpening service for Razors. Any help is appreciated .

You still in Florence? I'm as new as they come to straight razor shaving but want to learn..

Yeah I noticed the date after posting my comment... Haven't had any luck finding local groups or even resources. SRP has kinda been my only resources besides a few youtubers.. Ordered a gold dollar 208 from a "recommended" seller on etsy that was supposed to come "shave ready".. as well as a poor mans strop kit from whipped dog.. The strop kit was awesome.. the gold dollar not so much.. The seller "rounded off" about .5 cm of the heel and .5 cm from the toe of the razor which I wasn't expecting and the blade has an almost obvious to the naked eye difference in angle towards one end.. so now i'm left with a razor I can't use until I buy a stone and I don't have the money for that so... i'm kinda left with a bad taste in my mouth over the entire experience.

Thats why we tell beginners to stay away from the GD brand. They are never shave ready and require some work to get them there. Hopefully this set back doesn't take away from your enthusiasm. If you go to the member introductions and introduce yourself and ask for honing service near you you might get lucky. You can also check the classified under member services for honing. Should get a quick turn around.

Well this GD 208 was supposed to be "shave ready" from this experienced salesman on etsy.. I sent some pictures to a youtuber named DrMatt357 who does some good vids and he says it looks like a great job was done on it so perhaps it's just my inexperience. But i'll head over to the member intro page as you suggest. Thanks for your time bud :P

if your determined to shave with this RSO then send it to someone who knows how to hone,, we have several on this site that do it as a service. then give it time cause like most new guys your expecting right now results, it can take you well over a hundred shaves before your good. that and stropping is the most important aspect of keeping your razor ready. leave the honing till you learn to shave and strop, maybe get with a local to help out ,, there are guys in SC Tc

Well I spent a little more than I intended expecting it to be shave ready as advertised so I've been set back a little bit at the moment so no honing service for the time being. As well as a few links to some nicer affordable razors which is super helpful.
I'm determined to learn this art form and permanently make the switch to wetshaving with a straight razor. I love the culture and history behind it and what man doesn't find it awesome to shave with a huge chunk of razor sharp steel :P.
With funds what they are for me at the moment my thought process is .. I've got a so-so razor with a so-so edge, a great strop kit from WhippedDog... if I had a finishing stone I could improve/maintain the edge on my razor. So I'm feeling led to look for a really good deal on a barber hone or finishing hone..
