Without a picture, I can only guess at when and where it was made, which makes searching difficult.
It is Sheffield.
I've dug relatively deeply and I can't find anything. Not UK, nor American, nor Australian census records have any A. G. Hordens.
The most tantalizing bit is a case from New South Wales in Australia where two brothers named Horden sued each other over a defunct business. Their full names and the nature of their business is omitted.
Most pertinently though, the razor was likely made in Sheffield or possibly Germany by an anonymous manufacturer. A. G. Horden & Sons would've been something like a hardware store or barber supply company who had batches of razors made up with their name on them, sort of how people get USB thumb drives made as advertising for themselves now.
I say it was possibly German because around the turn of the century there were a number of companies stamping German-made razors with 'Sheffield'. This style of razor was made by everybody and it can be extremely difficult to tell where they were made without a traceable company name.
It could be one of those razors that were named for a local business and the razor itself was made in Sheffield - could be a local Ontario business that had razors stamped....as you've pointed out Zak, happened lots with local hardware stores etc.,....

why not? seems to make sense in the light of what the others have said about hardware stores branding merchandise with there names. seems like a large enough store to do something like that.Quote:

But that may be a typo here and they missed the R while typing it out. I'm not sure. But still not the stamp on the blade.
