Its an oldie but i cant make out the name. Someone should come along and give you an idea soon.
Man, when stamping a razor deep goes wrong... all the hallmarks of a pretty darn old razor. I'll be interested to see what our more knowledgeable members come up with!
Closest I can make out is RAYSON (1800), or NAYLER (1810). I am inclined to go with NAYLER.
I agree. that 4th letter definitely looks more like an "L" to me
A little more info.
GEORGE NAYLOR & SON
SHEFFIELD 1785-1800
Than you all!
I was wondering though, if it's truly a GEORGE NAYLOR & SON (1785-1800), doesn't that overall shape of the razor is a bit "modern" for this dating? AFAIK razors from that era are more rough in shape and with no grind to the blade.
If i had to guess I would date this razor to 1810-1830 or later...
A piece of history, there. Some cool info on Naylor from the late Niel Miller in this thread...

Well call me a skeptic but I'm still not fully convinced that my eyes are seeing an "O" before the "R", heck, I'm not even sure that the first letter is a solid "N"
