Hi folks
I received this kamisori/straight razor (hollow blade). Owner wants to get it shave ready. But I'm septic if it can be done as a real razor.

Looks like someone tried their hand at making a kamisori shaped object.
Depending on the grind and the steel you may or may not be able to whip that into a real shaver. The picture doesn't tell enough for me to give any real opinion.
You are right to be skeptical.
Looking at the blade and the handle, no matter whether you are able to put a usable edge on this razor-shaped object, I suspect that purely from an ergonomic perspective it will prove remarkably unsuitable to shave around the tight radii of jaw and chin.

I am not aware of many classic Japanese Kamisori razors in the 8/8 to 10/8 bracket.
The bigger the blade, the more important it is to have a precise grip on the handle to guide the blade around tight radii of chin and jaw. With this - in relation to the blade - puny handle that lacks the typical bamboo (or any other) material of the classic Kamisori to improve grip I expect that it will be ergonomically demanding to use.

The bevel would be my concern......
What do you mean the bevel has gone away?
To me, that means he ground it flat. :dropjaw: that would be a lot of wasted steel. Hoping im wrong.
