I honed a newer Hart many many months ago and the edge was so brittle I could barely get it to take a decent edge without it crumbling and was told later that it was a heat treat issue.

I want to thank everyone for the responses.. I appreciate the advice.. So I ended up.getting a 30x loupe as I normally only use a nice 10x. The edge was micro chipped so I repasted the loom strop (when I purchased this I buffed the green side out)... It took awhile with checking the edges every 10 laps or so. After what seemed like a long time the edges are looking good and with that I let 3 days of whiskers grow and put it to work... The shave was great and I'm quite happy with the razor as of now... thanks all
Did you check it with the loupe after shaving? If it chips after shaving, there could be a problem with the metal.
@DZEC... Thank you for the reminder.. I put it at the end of rotation and would not have got back to it for about 10 days.. Even though my favorite shaver is up next I'll use the Hart tomorrow and check the edge after... Thank you DZEC and keeping my fingers crossed..
