Early today (2 hours ago) first shave with a astra sp. first pass WTG (useless for me since i got hair growing top to bottom everywhere except a small spot on the mustache area) so WTG i only move soap) then ATG and some toch ups XTG. Astonishing, bbs almost averywhere except an always problematic spot under the right jawline (always a problem with every razor including the closest - for me - cart, the pace7) and no nicks no cuts and for the first time with no ingrown hairs!
You know, I am beginning to think nearly everyone has one of those problematic spots and usually around/under the jawline. Well, at least I do too. Glad you are off to a good start with your DE. It will only get better.
Bob
the strange thing is i always have that particular problematic spot only on the right side so i thing it's due to my worse skill when i use the left hand to shave
I have one of those problem spots on the neck too. Seems the hair is going in all kinds of different directions. I can’t easily get a clean shave there with a straight and it takes multiple passes in different directions with a DE.
Close, clean, comfortable shaves is what it is all about. No matter how you get there it’s the goal of each of us. I’m glad you are there. I too think every one has a challenging area.
My problematic spot is under the right side of the chin, again under the jawline. I think I had a bicycle accident and got road rash in that spot because there's a little scar there. Hell, you know how that is. I don't have time to map them all out and catalog them. My kids used to play a game called count the scars on Daddy's head. They would say to me "Daddy where did this cut or that bruise come from?" My answer is "what cut?"
As Rez said, enjoy a close comfortable shave. I quit worrying about getting every little whisker cut to where I cant feel it with my hand in any direction. That will just cause you irritation. Enjoy the shave and be happy you knocked them all down. Unless you leave a patch of long whiskers, don't worry about it.
Paul-I think there are many of us in this game with obsessive personalities (yours truly included!). Look at how much time some of us will devote to honing 1 razor to its ultimate shaving edge. All the various expensive AD's also prove it.
But taking Jerry's advice, I'm not quite as obsessive about the perfect shave during my summer break, although pretty much all of my shaves this summer will be testing edges I'm working on, so never mind.;)
