I would like to move from 5/8 and 6/8 to 7/8. I have a tough, course beard. I prefer round point to spike. My budget is about 200 US dollars. I am looking for suggestions of what others like/dislike which fit my criteria.

There are some nice 7/8 TI's in wood and horn handles over at Classic Shaving for under $200. Actually I think the horn handle was a round point. Nice looking razor and a really nice shaver.

Thanks for the suggestions, Eric and Lynn. FYI I ordered a 7/8 TI from classicshaving. I know their web site says they are round point and the pictures show a round point. I called and specifically asked if they were round points and when I was told yes, I placed an order. When it arrived (honed by Lynn) it was a square point. I called to tell them this and apparently TI recently changed the 7/8 blades at classicshaving to only square. Unfortunately I chose to return it. Classicshaving was fine with the refund. I have ordered from there in the past and will continue to do so - this post is a FYI and not meant to be anything bad against the professional people at classicshaving.

... and now their web site says it's actually a Spike Point. I ran into a similar issue at KCI with a 6/8 TI (J86) that they told me would be a notch point and was, in fact, a round point. Chose to keep it though. Wonderful shaver. I think this is an issue with TI. They seem to change details about razors and keep the model the same. Without opening every razor the vendors really don't know what they are selling (with current models, anyway - historic/collectible may be a different story).Quote:

A 7/8 Friodur or a Filarmonica would be very nice.
I've got a Blue Wonder, but it's a 6/8 I think. Great razor actually, one of my better blades. Honed up really easily and has kept it's edge brilliantly for a surprisingly long time. Unfortunately mine was a vintage purchase and I rubbed the gold wash off the blade during polishing, so it's not as purty as the one you're looking at. I'd recommend it based on the experiences I've had with mine.Quote:
