    Default small hands anyone?

What happens when your hands are smaller than the necessary size for honing/stropping/shaving with a TI straight that is 5/8 width. When your pinky does not even feel secure on the tang. And you wind up holding the straight like an icecream cone.
I think there may be guys have small hands who may benefit from a smaller sized blade. Does anyone have any suggestions for us less endowed men? Should we opt for the 4/8 size or may an overall smaller straight blade?

I have small hands, but I haven't had any problem handling any size razor. Can you describe the issue you're having?

Have you tried gripping the razor with your ring finger (rather than your pinkie) on the tail?

Ditto. Sometimes I have a little trouble rolling the wider shanks while stropping, but I don't know that that's about hand size.

A 5/8s is really the classic standard size razor. I have small hands and don't have a problem with it. As a mater of fact if I use anything smaller than 4/8s I find it way too small and hard to manipulate. I would check my technique if I were you. As the razor gets bigger you have more to hang on to. It should get easier.

I have small hands and prefer a 6/8 or 7/8. It's all good though.

Try using a bit of pressure between your ring & middle fingers to grip the handle lightly .
This may feel odd at first but it will mean that the razor is more secure & you can use thumb & fingers each side of the shank to help you guide & control angle of the blade .
Go slowly & carefully until this feels more natural.
Use a light pressure so you can get to feel what the blade is doing otherwise You may nick yourself. Paul

Thanks for all your feedback. I will try adjusting my grip. I have also experimented with wider angles (between razor and handle) with improved results.
I am especially pleased with not ruling out 6/8 or 7/8 width razors in my future purchases.
